The Supreme Court collegium has recommended the elevation of Justice Meenakshi M Rai, currently serving as a judge of the Sikkim High Court, as the next Chief Justice of the Patna High Court.
The recommendation comes ahead of the retirement of the incumbent Chief Justice on June 4, according to a statement published on the Supreme Court’s website.
The decision was taken during a collegium meeting held on May 22 under the leadership of Chief Justice of India Surya Kant.
“The Supreme Court collegium, in its meeting held on May 22, recommended the appointment of Justice Meenakshi M Rai, judge of the High Court of Sikkim, as Chief Justice of the High Court of Judicature at Patna following the retirement of the incumbent Chief Justice on June 4, 2026,” the statement said.
