Allahabad HC Refuses Urgent Hearing on Ram Temple Offerings Irregularities Plea
Allahabad High Court refuses urgent hearing on plea seeking independent probe and CAG audit into alleged misappropriation of donations at Ayodhya's Ram Temple; cites state SIT already in place.
The Allahabad High Court on Monday declined to grant an out-of-turn hearing on a petition seeking an independent inquiry into alleged financial irregularities in the management of offerings at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
What Happened
Petitioner Mohit Ashok approached the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court seeking:
- An independent probe into alleged misappropriation of devotee donations at the Ram Temple
- A CAG audit of temple funds for transparency and accountability
What the Court Said
A vacation bench of Justices Pankaj Bhatia and Amitabh Kumar Rai refused the out-of-turn hearing, citing two reasons:
🔹 The court was already dealing with a large volume of cases — the plea was listed at serial number 392 among 529 fresh cases on Monday
🔹 Since the state government had already taken cognisance of the matter, there was no urgency warranting priority hearing
Background
On June 13, the Uttar Pradesh government constituted an SIT following a request from the Ram Temple Trust after allegations of misappropriation of donations surfaced.
The SIT comprises:
- Vijay Vishwas Pant — Lucknow Divisional Commissioner
- Kiran S — Inspector General of Police
- Neel Ratan — Finance Department Special Secretary
What's Next
The petition will be heard in its regular turn. The court's observation that the state has already acted suggests the matter may face further scrutiny on whether judicial intervention is warranted at this stage.
