NEET Paper Leak Case: Delhi Court Sends Accused Shubham Khairnar to Judicial Custody Till June 6
Delhi court has sent NEET-UG 2026 paper leak accused Shubham Khairnar to judicial custody till June 6. The CBI is probing the alleged examination leak network and broader conspiracy.
A Delhi court on Sunday sent accused Shubham Khairnar to judicial custody until June 6 in connection with the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case.
Special Judge Ruchi Aggarwal approved the Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) request seeking judicial custody of the accused.
Earlier, on May 14, the court had remanded Khairnar and four other accused to seven days of CBI custody, noting that the allegations pointed to the involvement of an “organised gang” allegedly engaged in leaking and circulating confidential examination papers in exchange for money.
On May 20, Khairnar’s custodial interrogation was extended by five more days after the CBI informed the court that further questioning was required to identify and trace other co-accused allegedly linked to the sale of NEET-UG 2026 question papers.
The agency also sought additional time to recover and examine digital devices and evidence, including communication records and financial transactions connected to the alleged paper leak network.
According to the CBI, further investigation is needed to uncover the larger conspiracy and identify the source of the leaked question paper. The agency had also stated that Khairnar needed to be taken to multiple locations, including Nashik in Maharashtra, as part of the probe.
The CBI further told the court that the accused was required to help identify places where examination questions were allegedly disclosed to certain candidates.
Meanwhile, court sources said Pune-based physics lecturer Manisha Sanjay Havaldar, arrested on Friday, remains on transit remand and is expected to be produced before the concerned court on Monday.
Sources also indicated that five other accused persons will be produced before the court after completion of their CBI custody on May 25.
So far, the CBI has arrested 10 individuals in connection with the case.
The NEET-UG 2026 examination for undergraduate medical admissions, conducted on May 3, was cancelled two days later following allegations of a paper leak.
The Central government has directed the CBI to conduct a detailed investigation into the alleged irregularities.
